CMS often receives referrals of potential improper payments from the MACs, UPICs, and Federal investigative agencies (e.g., OIG, DOJ). At CMS discretion, CMS may require the RAC to review claims, based on these referrals. These CMS-Required RAC reviews are conducted outside of the established ADR limits.

Paul Ackerman

Project Manager

Paul Ackerman is the Project Manager for the National Region 5 DMEPOS, Home Health, and Hospice Recovery Audit contract. Paul has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Over his career he has been a senior leader with the Jurisdiction A DME Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) and Medicare Part B Contractors. He has a strong track record of managing timely and complete project deliverables. Paul has over 20 years of experience serving in a leadership role, responsible for implementing and managing large scale service and systems delivery projects, conducting needs analysis, and developing and executing strategic plans. Overall, Paul is responsible to ensure the implementation of the National Region 5 RAC contract meets CMS requirements and development of a good working relationship with CMS, Providers, Industry associations and all interested parties and stakeholders.

Dr. Bob Glenn

Contractor Medical Director - National Region 5

Dr. Bob Glenn serves as Performant Recovery's Contractor Medical Director for the CMS National DMEPOS, Home Health and Hospice Contract, bringing with him over 15 years of clinical and regulatory experience. Bob has been with Performant since the spring of 2017, when he started as the Alternate Contract Medical Director for Regions 1 & 5. Prior to this, he worked in the regulatory and compliance field on the provider side with Executive Health Resources (EHR). As Executive Medical Director at EHR he worked on the team that was responsible for providing strategies to clients on how to manage compliance issues ranging from MAC and ZPIC audits through OIG investigations. Bob brings experience as a family medicine physician and also served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania before transitioning out of clinical practice.
